The time has come….

Re-design time! I have hunted all over for templates and programs to redo my Balko Photo site. My eyes are red and teary, my bones achy and weary….

Seems the best way is to just code it myself, so that will take a wee bit of time. The skeleton can go up fairly quickly, but the galleries will take time and planning.

Here is a Sneak Preview!

Canon's new 20-400mm lens

Note that new BLUE ring!

Canon has come with a new and improved lens line with new optics that actually intensify the light as it passes through the lens. This gives us smaller and lighter lenses even with an f2.8 maximum aperture.

The minimum focusing distance goes straight down to 0.2m throughout the range. This means that at the 400mm setting the lens actually gives 1:1 reproduction size, though it has to be said that depth of field is might be a problem. It gives about 1:4 on about a 100mm setting.

Supposedly it weighs about the same as the current 100-400L. Price to be £2799.

Yeah, don’t we wish!

Enjoy and um, April Fools!

A rainy day for handing my new flash gallery problems.

It rarely rains here in the desert and it smells so wonderfully fresh outside, but it will be the day for tackling my flash gallery problems. I tried it out, loved it, and bought it last night. That is when the problems began. I used the link they sent me that they claimed would remove the watermark….uh, no it didn’t.

I may have to delete the gallery I made and start over. But first I have to tend to Sweepstakes over at Gimme Sweeps!!

Later….

New part of this site now – my blog. Nothing dramatic happening here because the Balko Photo is about my Photos! – and that new flash gallery I made But here you will find the little day-to-day stuff about shooting something or equipment or whatever photography related!

Thanks for stopping by and keep reading!

About the photo: I belong to several 365-photo-a-day projects and one of them is my wisteria tree. It’s a challenge to shoot it every day, but here is the shot from March 3rd (Canon 5DII, 100mm macro) – number 202 of 365.
